11th Ave Staircase Refurbish - Mount Pleasant, Vancouver

A client in Mount Pleasant called me to see if I could refurbish their staircase. This is a “winder” configuration, which requires pie shaped treads. New solid oak treads were supplied, and the pie-shaped winder treads were custom made on site. White MDF risers and stringers were fitted on site and painted to match the rest of the trim in the house.

I was also asked if the railings could be replaced. A simple, modern oak wall rail was used to complement the clean lines and eased edge nosings. Being a winder staircase, the railings here were tricky to install, but I made sure to have continuous railings run up the entire length of the stairs.

The oak treads and railings were stained to match the hardwood floors upstairs, using a mix of oil based Duraseal Nutmeg, Provincial, and Early American stains, and clear coated with Loba EZ Finish in a satin sheen.
